I am a Senior UNIX Specialist currently working as a full-time employee at
Peabody Energy (NYSE: BTU) in St. Louis, MO.
I have been with Peabody for 18 months now.
While working at Peabody I have been managing the existing Solaris server environment,
including an IBM DS4800 FC SAN, and EMC NetWorker for the Backup and Recovery environment.
I am also the project manager for migrating the Solaris environment to AIX, which is
Peabody's primary UNIX platform.
Prior to Peabody I worked at Tripos in St. Louis, MO
for four and a half years, where I managed the Solaris, IRIX, HP-UX, Red Hat
Enterprise Linux, and VMware ESX systems; along with the EMC Clariion SAN and Celerra
NAS storage.
Before relocating to St. Louis in the summer of 2003, I had spent the prior
16 years living and working in Southern California, where I got my start in
the computer industry. I have now been working as a UNIX and Linux Admin for
over 22 years, primarily as a Sun Solaris admin, starting all the way back in the
SunOS 3.2 days on Sun3 VME-based Motorola systems.
These pages provide information relating to Solaris system administration, as well as
general UNIX administration. It includes links to presentations, tools, best practices,
etc. that I have developed and/or become familiar with during my career as an admin.
Thanks for stopping by,
Rodney
