right position presents itself in Michigan (my home state), at which
time my preference would be to relocate there.

Systems Architect, or Senior UNIX/Linux Administrator in an enterprise data
center environment.
Introduction:
Hello,
I am a Senior UNIX/Linux Administrator and Systems Architect, with over twenty years experience in
the industry.
My specialty is with the Sun Microsystems family of products and the Solaris Operating Environment,
as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I have managed multiple flavors of UNIX and Linux systems over
the years, and I am currently managing an environment that consists of Solaris, IRIX, HP-UX, RHEL,
and SuSE Linux systems; along with EMC Clariion SAN and Celerra NAS storage, and VMware ESX Server
virtualization. In addition to my system's skills, I am an experienced technical manager/team lead
with project management, change management, policy and procedure creation, and documentation skills.
My initial start along this career path was working for several of the leading UNIX resellers in Southern
California providing both internal and external technical services, while working as an administrator,
engineer, and manager. I subsequently left the reseller market and joined a national consulting
firm, where I spent four years providing professional services to various clients as a Senior UNIX Systems
Engineer until the market downturn of 2001.
I next joined Washington Mutual Bank in Irvine, CA as a Senior Technical Specialist where I worked with
the enterprise Sun Solaris environment providing systems architecture and design services, as well as
third-level support for the existing UNIX environments, both local and remote.
During the summer of 2003 Washington Mutual's corporate UNIX group went through a re-org,
and rather than relocate to Seattle, I chose to take severance and instead
relocated to Missouri for both family and work reasons. Since moving here, I have been
employed as a full-time Senior UNIX Administrator at Tripos, Inc. in St. Louis.
Throughout my career I have been involved with many projects and environments.
The industries I have worked in have included Aerospace, Banking, Defense,
Engineering, Financial, Hospitality, Retail Franchise Operations, and Software
Development.
Major projects have included development of an enterprise-wide UNIX Server Strategy,
design and implementation of Sun Enterprise Systems, design and implementation of
enterprise-wide Backup and Recovery Infrastructures, Disaster Recovery Evaluations,
enterprise-wide Solaris JumpStart implementations, as well as design and implementation
of enterprise-wide Mail (SMTP,POP,IMAP), DNS, NIS, and Web Services.
